The Bangladesh Air Force is the air arm of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. The embryo of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) was formed on 28 September 1971 during the war of freedom with only three aircraft. During last 43 years Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) has been developed as one of the highly developed and capable air force of the world. BAF now operates hi tech fourth generation multirole air superiority fighter, supersonic air protection interceptor, fighter Ground attack aircraft, long range fixed wing transport aircraft, different type of utility helicopters and training aircrafts. BAF also has long range Surface to Air missiles and highly sophisticated Air Defense radars to protect our sky. Bangladesh Air Force is organized into Bases, Wings, Flying Squadrons, Radar Squadrons, Training Institutes and maintenance & support units/squadrons. Overall command and control of BAF lies with Air Headquarters. Air Headquarters provide the policy rule. Bases are the executing formations. Bases are comprised of no of Wings. The Wings are shaped with several numbers of Squadrons. Bangladesh Air Force is organized into Bases, Wings, Flying Squadrons, Radar Squadrons, Training Institutes and continuation & support units/squadrons. Overall command and control of BAF lies with Air Headquarters. Air Headquarters supply the policy rule. Bases are the executing formations.
