Gram Unnayan Karma (GUK) was established in the year 1989 as a non-profit, non-political & non-governmental social welfare organization under the dynamic leadership of Khandaker Alamgir Hossain along with some dedicated social activists. In 1993 the organization obtained registration from the Department of Social Services, Bogra. Later on the organization obtained registration certificates from the NGO Affairs Bureau, Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA), Directorate of Family Planning, Directorate of Health, Joint Stock Company etc.
