Jennifer Lawrence wordless After Oscar Nomination

Actor Jennifer Lawrence was born in August 15, 1990. She is an American film and television actress. She has had lead roles in TBS's The Bill Engvall Show and in the independent films The Burning Plain and Winter's Bone. On January 25, 2011, she was nominated for an Academy Award for the latter. Jennifer Lawrence was born in Louisville, Kentucky. She has 2 older brothers, Ben and Blaine, a sister in law, Meredith, and her parents are Gary and Karen Lawrence.

Jennifer, known to her friends and family as "Jen," was discovered in New York City at the age of 14. Before Jennifer became an actor, she was a involved in cheerleading, field hockey, s
oftball, and modeling, none of which she held a passion for. JENNIFER LAWRENCE, the American actress who was yesterday (25th January 2011) nominated for an OSCAR for her role in the movie 'Winter's Bone' was left speechless by her inclusion in the Academy's list, reports Entertainment Weekly.

The 20-year-old was given the surprise nod in the category of 'Best Actress' and she will do battle with the likes of NATALIE PORTMAN and NICOLE KIDMAN come the ceremony next month. On hearing news of her nomination, Lawrence said, "I still can't really get the words out, I just. I can't... As you can see", before adding,

"I'm so grateful and happy and thrilled and tired". Lawrence's co-star JOHN HAWKES was also recognised in the category of 'Best Supporting Actor' and the movie itself was named in the list of ten nominees for the prize of 'Best Picture'. Despite the film's success at last year's Sundance Film Festival, the actress says she wasn't expecting it to be recognised by the Academy, adding, "When you make a tiny movie like that on a shoestring budget in the freezing cold, this has surpassed any expectation I could've had. And that's why it just feels so good. We all made it without this in mind". The movie, directed by DEBRA GRANIK, explores the underworld of illegal meth laboratories in the Ozark region of the United States.

Granik's low-budget drama, based on the novel by Daniel Woodrell, stars Lawrence as an Ozark teen named Ree Dolly, the sole guardian to her younger siblings, who is forced to search for her missing father in order to save her family's home. One of the people she goes to is Uncle Teardrop (John Hawkes), an intimidating relative who may have the answer to her father's whereabouts.
